The Grammys Have No Credibility

2021 GRAMMYs Awards Show: Complete Winners List | GRAMMY.com

An award should be a prestigious trophy of excellence that certifies you’ve exceeded every other contestant you were up against. It’s a proud achievement that is seen as admirable and establishes credibility to the casual spectator that watches them collect the honorable trophy. The Grammys are a disgrace to that proposition. ‘Why are they this diabolical embarrassment to the broader spectrum of society?’ you may wonder. Let me explain. If you win a race, you’d cross the finish line and claim the trophy. Out of all the other contestants you’ve displayed why you deserve the throne. It wasn’t manifested by propaganda, bias or capitalism.

‘Wow! Those are some allegations Mr Earie Entertainment, care to back them up?’ if you’re now thinking that you’ve reached the right location. Let’s do a history lesson. Rewind to 1989. There’s spandex, mullets and high wasted jeans after every bat of an eyelid. The award for ‘Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental’ is being announced. The name Jethro Tull’ is read out. You’re questioning whether you’re living some alternate reality in the Twilight Zone. In what universe are they hard rock or metal!? I understand music is subjective but you can’t bend the reality of the situation. It’s the equivalent of proclaiming that Pantera are indie. It’s absurd.

Now everybody knows by now there’s been a prolonging bias against rock and metal at the awards ceremony for years. That’s a subject for another day. What I will state though is the only reason for this is because rock doesn’t make enough money for the corporations. This year, solely just to attract the attention of the media, all the rock nominees were female. Which is fantastic… If any of them were actually considered to be marginally in that genre. Our community has been excluded enough by them yet they still continue to methods to maintain an admirable image whilst showing their bias towards the genre.

Whilst we’re on that train of thought let’s discuss their fictitious agenda. The Grammys want to appear politically correct to appease the masses but it’s ingenuine. They’ll pull a stunt like including all females for the “rock” category yet there’s still casual racism. Last year Tyler The Creator won best rap album despite it not being a rap album. He claimed that they always place black artists within the urban or rap categories. How out of touch are the people judging it? Clearly this isn’t about artistry, it’s about money.

The Grammys ceremony is an excuse for the industry executives to gather round in a circle and complements each other. It’s a money making event, not an awards ceremony. They don’t judge on the quality of the record just the quantity that it has sold. If you’re not an industry hack the likelihood of you winning a major award is very slim. My reference there is thrown at “artists” under a major label making music that’s not made for artistry just for corporate gain. There’s nothing genre defining or divergent about it whatsoever. You can’t tell me Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ isn’t deja vu. If you played that alongside every album that was released in the last year, it wouldn’t stand out as anything you hadn’t heard previously.

This isn’t a music ceremony. Would a music ceremony be more concerned about what the artist is wearing than the quality of the record? All the news articles from the mainstream media about last night’s event are just discussing the dresses and suits everybody was wearing. NEWS FLASH, this isn’t a fucking fashion show. It’s a MUSIC ceremony. Harry Styles could literally go onstage literally walking circles around the microphone stand whilst a backing track of his music blares and people would still be discussing what he was wearing. It’s madness and just makes The Grammys look even more of a punchline to music fans.

In short, The Grammys don’t matter anymore. If you had any integrity as an artist you would stand up to the corporate hacks and throw that award in a dumpster fire where it belongs. The award is meaningless and no longer adds anything to an artist’s career. The fact that Beyonce’s daughter can get one at 9 years old last night says it all. If she weren’t related to them she’d be sitting and watching with her family like all the other children out there. That gleaming, lustrous awards comes from the money in your pockets for buying into their scam. Don’t let them fool you any longer!
